The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center Development Corporation streamline communication among project stakeholders. Comprised of leadership from Nebraska Medicine, University of Nebraska Medical Center and the University of Nebraska Foundation, the Development Corporation seeks consensus regarding decisions that impact design, construction and operational function of the new facility.

Cancer research funding has tripled since 1999 to $65 million. Once the new Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center opens our goal is to almost double that number to approximately $120 million.
Cancer Center Development Corporation
Serve as Owner’s Representative for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine while providing oversight and direction for planning, financing, developing and construction of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.
Nebraska Medicine is ranked 36th nationally for its cancer care placing the hospital in the top three percent of the 4,806 analyzed for the latest Best Hospitals rankings.
Provide recommendations to the Cancer Center Development Corporation on items from Project Management Office, Finance and Communications teams. The Executive Committee also acts as a fundraising and community liaison and conducts regular meetings with key project stakeholders.
The Finance Committee establishes internal controls and approval processes for expenditures, defines accounting system as SAP with seven year accounting record retention (after project completion) and tracks fund sources to ensure compliance with donor request and tax fund requirements in project accounting.
The communication team reviews and approves project communication to internal and external audiences. They are involved in the coordination of public activities and responsible for the preparation of events surrounding the new building opening and dedication. The communication team also prepares donor communication to include naming opportunities and investor updates.
