Relay for Life 2013The Nebraska Medical Center, UNMC and UNMC Physicians joined forces to participate in the 2013 Douglas County Relay for Life. Together the team raised $8,587 to support the American Cancer Society. The event, held June 8 at Elkhorn South High School, was the first opportunity for the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center to present as a major donor.

Missy Schreiber, a cancer survivor and infusion center nurse at The Nebraska Medical Center, promised to “prancercise”
at the event if she met her goal, which she did by raising more than $2,650. If you’re not familiar with prancercizing, it’s a unique internet exercise video that’s gone viral the last few weeks. “My sister is a cancer survivor and inspired me to go all out in my fundraising efforts this year,” says Schreiber. “I knew I needed to up the ante so I promised donors I would lead the Cancer Prancers if I reached my fundraising goal. As you can see from the video, I met my goal!”
